I caught Hank III this winter in Minneapolis. It is true that "he is the hardest working man in country!" He did a triple set of country, hellbilly, and assjack. I didn't get out of First Avenue till nearly 2 A.M.
I picked up the new CD this evening and I love it...Some serious twang and country with edge.
If you have the oppurtunity I recommend catching his current road trip...HANK III
Been listening to him a while and this is definitly a good album, but I dont even want to know what the edited version of Dick In Dixie sounds like
still waiting for a real release of "This Ain't Country." Why is it that the bootlegs versions available for download don't have "I'm Drunk Again"????
Funny story about the new Hank III album... my husband and I were at a local music shop today looking for it, and being in a small town they had only brought in one copy which had apparently been sold. The girl working in the shop said when the CD arrived, they were unsure of what section it should be placed... they new since it was Hank III that it should most likely go into the country section, but the parental advisory sticker on the cover confused them. We laughed and told her that Hank not only does country (and looks eerily like his Grandfather) but also Hellbilly and Assjack (she had no idea what that was)...he is not your parent's country artist... thank the Lord for Hank III (crap! did I just start another religion/music/politics war?)... keep in mind, this is the same town where our largest book chain puts Hunter S. Thompson in the "Self Help" section... true story!!
